FAQ

Where is your office located?
5060 Cascade Rd. SE Suite D Grand Rapids, MI 49546

If I don’t live near you, can we still work together?

Yes! We can meet virtually on my secure telehealth platform.

Can I still do telehealth even if I live locally?

Yes! Many of my clients choose to do a hybrid or combination of telehealth and in-person sessions. We’ll do whatever is best for you and is in the best interest of your therapeutic goals.

What are your hours?

I currently work Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday. Most of my availability is in the afternoons or early evening. I do have occasional weekend availability as well.

How long is a typical session?

I schedule clients for 60-minute and 90-minute sessions, minus a five-minute transition time.

What forms of payment do you accept?

I accept all major credit cards and charge your card on file at each session’s conclusion. That way, you don’t have to worry about forgetting your wallet or paying your invoices later.

If you complete sessions in person, I will also accept cash and/or check, if preferred.

Do you see clients through insurance?

I currently accept Blue Cross Blue Shield and United Health Care/Optum. Many other insurance companies may offer reimbursement for out-of-network mental health services.

I encourage you to check with your insurance providers to learn about any available reimbursement options. I’m happy to provide you with a weekly or monthly “superbill” for reimbursement.

Similarly, if you have access to a health savings account or flex spending account through your employer, you may use this to pay for services or co-pays in many cases. Doing so would give you additional, tax-free savings on your therapy services.

How do I set up an initial appointment?

I’m so glad you asked! To see if we’re a good fit, reach out to me to schedule an

initial consultation

What is your cancellation policy?

I have a 48-hour cancellation policy. Clients who cancel less than 48 hours in advance are subject to the appointment’s full fee.

If you email, message, or leave a voicemail within this timeframe, I will consider your appointment canceled.

I’m not unreasonable; I understand that life happens. Should you have a true emergency and be unable to cancel before 48 hours, I will waive the cancellation fee.

Are you experienced working with people of different race, gender identity, sexual orientation, religion, atheist/agnostic, and weight?

Yes! I strive to do my best to maintain integrity in serving a diverse client base, including continuing education around cultural competence, anti-racism, body neutrality, and other forms of discrimination that clients may face.

What type of therapy do you do?

I provide holistic psychotherapy and life coaching services using an integrative approach grounded in the relationship between mind, body, and spirit. I am a certified clinical hypnotherapist and use a combination of traditional psychotherapy methods, closed eye processing, and hypnotherapy to allow you to experience the lasting transformation that you seek.

A variety of modalities inform my therapeutic style – Experiential, Gestalt, Humanistic, Jungian, Mindfulness-based, Psychodynamic, Somatic, Transpersonal, and Trauma-focused. I am also working towards certification as a Transpersonal Life Coach.

What is the difference between therapy and coaching?

Therapy focuses on the presenting problem and healing from the past. Coaching focuses on what is possible and looks towards the future. Both therapy and coaching have the power to transform and both focus on open and honest communication. Some clients may start their journey with therapy, and later graduate to coaching. Other clients may seek out coaching or work with a therapist and coach simultaneously. What is the Personal Transformation Intensive®?

The Personal Transformation Intensive® (PTI) is a powerful, experiential therapeutic program for those seeking a deeper level of understanding and growth. The healing and growth process includes individual and group heart-centered techniques, including meditation, hypnotherapy, energetic psychodrama and circular breath therapy. This transformative process compliments your existing program to: increase awareness and understanding, release limiting beliefs/reactions, attract your desired experiences, deepen your spiritual connection, create clarity in communication, strengthen personal relationships, improve mental and emotional health and experience deep inner joy. PTI is a series of five, 3 day workshops encompassing one weekend a month for five months.

Have you worked with the kind of problem I’m facing?

I have experience working with clients from all walks of life and many different circumstances. Specifically, I’ve worked with people suffering from anxiety, depression, trauma/PTSD, traumatic memories, parenting, motherhood, life transitions, grief, codependency, recovering perfectionists, relationship issues, and spiritual matters.

My therapeutic processes go beyond symptom management and coping mechanisms to get to the real root cause of your pain and create lasting change.

In coaching, I have often worked with other therapists or entrepreneurs on creating prosperity and financial abundance by identifying strengths and releasing limiting beliefs. I coach through a transpersonal lens, to help you find clarity and embrace your life’s purpose.

How often should I come to therapy or meet with my coach?

I generally recommend new therapy clients meet weekly for at least the first six to twelve sessions, as we set the foundation for success and create momentum. From there, some clients move to every other week. Long-term clients can set various schedules that meet their therapeutic goals while continuing to have regular check-ins about their progress, as well as whether they should continue therapy and with what frequency. I also welcome back previous clients who are ready for another layer of healing.

For coaching clients, we will determine a frequency and container that bests serves your individual needs and goals. Coaching relationships may be short term or may be long term and continue over the course of several years, as clients transition through the various stages of life.

My door is always open!

How do I know if we’re a good fit?

A great way to tell is to hop on a 15-minute phone consultation with me, so that we can chat about why you’re seeking therapy, coaching or the Personal Transformation Intensive® and what you hope to get out of it. Our conversation will give me an idea of whether I’m the best person to help you.

Will I have homework?

The time that we spend together in sessions is important to your healing process but integrating that healing into your daily life often requires outside work.

I encourage you to integrate healing practices from our therapy sessions and other somatic/mindfulness tools into the rest of your life. I’ll partner with you to find exercises and homework assignments that you can realistically implement.
